Happy 2nd Birthday, Parker!

Parker celebrated his 2nd birthday on March 24th. It was on a Wednesday and we followed our normal routine with Secrets class at church in the morning followed by lunch with friends. And then Wednesday night church. But we ended the night with special birthday cupcakes for the birthday boy!
We had the big birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday morning with all of our friends. It was lots of fun and Parker actually got brave enough to give "cheese Mouse" a high-five.
It's neat to see how Parker has suddenly grown up into a little boy. One day he just started picking up sticks and playing in the dirt; playing with choo-choo trains and big trucks; showing off his muscles; wrestling with daddy....and you should see him fearlessly and very swiftly ride the school bus around the house, "fish-tailing" in the kitchen because he knows if he runs into the cabinets he's in big trouble. And he's secure enough in his boyhood that he's not shy about putting on Avery's pink sandals and dress up clothes, playing with babydolls (however, we've recently had to throw his baby Blair away since he decided to clean the inside of the toilet with her). He has his own little language we call "Parker-nese", making these funny little sound effects while he's trying to tell us something. He's starting to sing songs; last week I figured out he was singing "wheels on the bus" and I think his latest number is "twinkle, twinkle little star". His favorite books at bedtime are Goodnight Moon; Brown Bear; Buzz, Buzz says the Bee; and picture books. He recently started sleeping in his big bed at night. He's been napping in his new bed, but we hadn't tackled nighttime yet. So one night last week as I was putting him to bed I asked him if he wanted to sleep in his new bed, and he crawled right up and slept in it all night without a sound from him...and we haven't had any problems with him getting up (PTL!) He still has his sweet little dimples when he smiles which is so adorable to his mom; it almost gets him out of trouble some days. Notice I said "almost". He and Avery, affectionately know as "Ya-Ya" (not sure where that came from) play so well together. I love to hear them playing and laughing together...it's a sweet sound. Parker loves, loves, loves Carter and has been nothing but sweet to him since the day he was born. He has always loved babies; so glad he loves his baby brother.
Parker David, you are a delight! Thank you, God, for entrusting this precious little boy to us. He's a treat!
